Spongebob understood if something was awkward or disrespectful outside accidental roasts, he left Squidward alone when Patrick suggested introducing their pet (yes it was squidward in cement but that doesnt take away from spongebob showing social boundary awareness), there are so many other examples but it's been years since I paid attention to this show so they're a blur in my head but they need to make Spongebob sane dog, this whole clueless social menace schtick only demeans him from the caring resourceful but gullible do gooder he was before.
That wasn't the case with most of the pre season 9 eps. The references are nice, if shameless at this point the creative team severely needs to stop harping on the show's past, it's desperate and pointless, and its premise works, but what muddies it all is the sheer fact they keep pushing Spongebob as this senseless maniac who's so impaired in social skills that he can't tell he's causing someone psychological distress. Here's what stifles whether it's good or bad. All the more reason I can't fully reason the supposed explanation that the continuity was split into two separate universes, what's the purpose in them trying to cram KK into the mainline series then when it throws off events established prior? JUST.
Fuck me Nickelodeon is STILL hanging onto Kamp Koral.
